Kordell Brown of Men's Basketball Headed to Columbus State
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kordell Brown of Santa Fe College, a 2022-2023 Central Conference Second Team honoree, has committed to continue his career at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
Brown attended Ocoee High School in Orlando, where he was the school's all-time leading scorer with over 1,000 career points.
In the 2022-2023 season, Brown played and started in 28 of 29 games. The highly efficient forward led the team in field goal percentage (56.0) and was second on the team with 14.7 points per game. Brown scored in double digits on 24 occasions, and set a career high scoring mark of 24 points, which he produced on three occasions this season. He notched three double-doubles in his sophomore season, and in the game against St. Petersburg on Jan. 14, he matched a career high with 13 rebounds.
As a freshman in the 2021-2022 season Brown played in 25 games and started in seven. He led the team in the field goal percentage (57.4), while averaging 5.9 points and 2.8 rebounds to help the Saints to a Central Conference title. He was honored as a member of the FCSAA and Central Conference All-Academic Teams.
Columbus State University Basketball is coached by Robert Moore. Coach Moore is coming off his 13th season with the Cougars. Since becoming head coach, Moore has taken Columbus State to the NCAA Division II Tournament on four different occasions. Overall, the Cougars have had a 200-157 record with Coach Moore at the helm.
The Cougars are coming off a 16-14 record in 2022-2023, and compete in the Peach Belt Conference.
Brown is the fifth Saint from the 2022-2023 team to sign with a four-year program.
