Saints fall to #9 Daytona State
Santa Fe falls to nationally ranked Daytona State
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe (12-3) drops to #9 Daytona State (13-3) in a 78-63 loss in Wednesday night's matchup in the Santa Fe College Gymnasium.
Santa Fe and Daytona State was surely a heavyweight matchup as both teams went shot for shot in a tight first half. The Saints found themselves with a 28-27 lead as the physical play and defense made it extremely difficult for either offense to build a lead or go on a run.
The physical second half continued, with Daytona State building a lead and extending it to double digits before Santa Fe Head Coach John Ritzdorf was forced to call a timeout. The lead extended to 13 points before the Falcons put the game away with a 78-63 win over Santa Fe.
Tre Dubois led the way with 18 points while no other Santa Fe scorer reached double digits. The Saints held two Falcons to double digit scoring; a game high 22 by Noah Mendy and 18 from CJ Hall helped lift Daytona State to their 13th win of the year.
Santa Fe return to the Santa Fe College Gymnasium on Saturday, January 10th at 4:00 as they take on Eastern Florida State College. The Titans are (11-5) and will meet the Saints for the first of two regular season meetings on Saturday afternoon.
