Saints earn 2nd sweep of the season
Santa Fe takes two games from FSCJ and improves to 4-0

The Saints got on a roll early and didn't look back, earning an 11-2 mercy rule win over Florida State College at Jacksonville on Thursday.
Belle Mancillas set the tone in the circle for the Saints striking out the first two batters she faced before the inning ended with a fly out.
Mackenzie Cox led off for the Saints with a double down the left field line. Molly Bender followed with a single to center field which brought Cox home. Miranda Murch then blasted a 2 run home run to put the Saints ahead 3-0 as the Saints tallied three runs in the first inning. Mancillas kept bringing her stuff in the second inning, striking out two batters and getting out of a bases loaded situation without surrendering a run.
Santa Fe added three more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a double from Cox and a two RBI single by Frierson bringing Cox and Bender in to extend their lead to 6-0.
FSCJ got on the board in the top of third, scoring one run on an RBI single by Peyton Studt bringing the score to 6-1. Mancillas responded by striking out the final batter of the inning.
In the bottom of the third, Rylie Blakenship singled before she scored on a dropped fly ball off the bat of Cox. Molly Bender followed with a RBI hit bringing Cox home, and Miranda Murch capped it off with an RBI single to bring the Saints lead to 9-1. The Saints then tallied two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and turned a game-ending double play in the top of the 5th inning to run-rule the Manta Rays 11-2.
The second game of the doubleheader was much closer, however the Saints hung on to a 6-4 win and secured their second sweep of the season to improve their record to (4-0).
FSCJ got on the board first in the top of the first via a single. The Saints then took the lead in the bottom of the first; Miranda Murch homered to center field which brought home three runs. This was her second of the day. Santa Fe added one more run in the second. Kenzie Cox singled to left field, making the score 4-1.
FSCJ answered with one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to left field, then added another in the 5th inning to cut the Saints lead to 4-2
Morgyn Stevens earned the win for Santa Fe Saints. The hurler surrendered four hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Skyler Alvarez appeared in relief for Santa Fe. Murch provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Santa Fe with three RBI's. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Molly Bender went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Santa Fe in hits. Cox collected two hits for Santa Fe in four at bats.
The Saints take their (4-0) record on the road to State College of Florida this Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 and 4:00pm. They return home on February 12th for two games against Tallahassee State.
