Santa Fe Saints lost to Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers 5-3 on Saturday.
A single by Hannah Hargrave put Santa Fe on the board in the top of the second.
FSW flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the frame however, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-1.
Chloe Woods pitched four innings in relief for Santa Fe . The reliever gave up three hits and zero runs while, striking out one and walking two. Belle Mancillas led things off in the circle for Santa Fe Saints. The hurler gave up five hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking two. Kwakennaak stepped in the circle first for Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers. The starter gave up six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three.
McKenzie Cox, Sydney English, and Hannah Hargrave each drove in one run for Santa Fe Saints. English went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Santa Fe Saints in hits. Santa Fe Saints turned one double play in the game.
The Saints plated two more runs to cut the lead to 5-3 but ran out of outs and dropped the first game to FSW.
Both teams were strong in the circle in game two, but FSW was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over Santa Fe .
Morgyn Stevens started the game for Santa Fe Saints and recorded 18 outs. The Saints were the first to get on the board in the first when Miranda Murch singled, scoring one run.
Woods singled down the right field line, which helped Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
An error gave Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Stevens took the loss for Santa Fe Saints. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking one.
English, Bender, Hargrave, and Murch each collected one hit. Murch led Santa Fe Saints with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
The Saints return home on Tuesday, March 24th for a doubleheader vs #11 Seminole State beginning at 2:00.
