Saints fall in FCSAA DI Softball Championship B Bracket Semifinals
Santa Fe drops 8-0 to Eastern Florida
Clearwater, FL
#3 Sante Fe (44-15, 28-12) played their fourth game of the 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Championship vs #5 Eastern Florida (44-16, 27-13) held at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida. The Saints have held a 3-1 lead over Eastern Florida this season, beating them in the first three matchups (swept the Titans in Melbourne) as the two teams split the regular season finale in Gainesville.
Both the Saints and Titans squared off for their second matchup of the day vs different opponents, as the Saints took down #4 Indian River 6-3 in the 10:00am game and Eastern Florida beat #7 Miami Dade 3-2 in 8 innings during the 1:00pm game.
The Saints and Titans have battled through Bracket B and are looking for the chance to square off vs #2 Northwest Florida State in the B Bracket Final on Saturday, May 16th at 10:00am.
Chloe Woods stepped into the circle for Santa Fe for her first start of the 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Championship. The Titans struck first in the top of the inning after Annalyn Duncan hit a solo homerun to left field to put the Titans aboard in the top half of the inning 1-0.
A walk drawn by Sydney English is all the Saints can do with the bats their first time up as they take the field in the top of the second behind by a score of 1-0.
Eastern Florida was able to take advantage of both hits and walks as they push two runs across in the fourth and four across in the fifth inning to lead into the Saints 7-0 deficit as they took the sticks in the bottom of the 5th. Chloe Woods ends the afternoon with a final line of 4.0 innings, 7H, 7R (5ER), 7BB and 1K. Kadence Compton took over in relief.
Ellie Frierson led off the 5th inning with a single but the Saints were not able to capitalize with a runner on base.
Compton then navigates a scoreless 6th frame but the Saints aren't able to provide any run support to cut into the Titans lead as both teams head to the 7th inning.
The Titans are able to push across one run in the top of the 7th, however Santa Fe is unable to gain any momentum and drop 8-0 to Eastern Florida.
That concludes the Saints run in the FCSAA DI Softball Championship as one of the top four teams in the state. They come up short of an automatic bid to the NJCAA DI Softball Tournament but will hope to receive an at-large selection.
