Thompson Signs to Florida Polytechnic University
Jaz Thompson signs to play at Florida Polytechnic University
Gainesville, FL
After two years playing for Santa Fe softball, Jazmyn Thompson is taking her talents to Florida Polytechnical University to continue her playing career. Thompson is an Apopka, FL native and a transfer from Emmanuel University, intending to major in criminal justice.
Thompson appeared in 13 games for Santa Fe in 2026, recording a perfect fielding percentage as a catcher. During her freshman year in 2025, she recorded 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored along with a home run, making a solid impact at the plate.
On the field, she posted a sharp .980 fielding percentage as one of the defense's most reliable. Between her two years at Santa Fe, Thompson spent time both at 3rd base and the catcher positions before zeroing in on catcher during her sophomore year.
For the 2027 season, Thompson will make history as one of Florida Polytechnical University's first ever student-athletes. The program recently hired Mike Settle as its inaugural softball head coach, an 11-year head coaching veteran at the high school level. With a blank set of record books and a brand new opportunity, Thompson has the potential to write her name in school history as a member of Phoenix softball.
