Curry Selected as NJCAA Player of the Week for Second Time
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After being selected as the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week for the third time on Tuesday, Aleisha Curry of Santa Fe Women's Basketball went on to claim NJCAA Division I Player of the Week honors.
It was the second time this season that Curry, a sophomore center from Lehigh Acres, Fla., won the national Player of the Week distinction.
Curry double-doubled in each of the past four games for the Saints from Dec. 13 - Jan. 3, helping SF to wins over Tallahassee and Miami Dade. During that stretch of play, she averaged 15.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, and two assists while shooting 21-of-33 from the field (63.6 percent).

Curry made defensive contributions as well, recording at least one block and one steal in all four contests.
In the last outing of 2021 against No. 23 Florida Southwestern, Curry notched her ninth double-double of the season and fourth consecutive, recording team-highs in points (15) and rebounds (14). She went 7-of-10 from the floor for another efficient outing from the interior.
Headed into Central Conference play, Curry ranks No. 3 in the NJCAA in offensive rebounds (87), No. 12 in rebounds per game (11.7), and No. 17 in field goal percentage (60.6). She is averaging 16.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game for Santa Fe (8-6).
Curry and the Saints are next scheduled to take the floor on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at No. 25 Eastern Florida State College.
