Make it Two: Brown Claims NJCAA Player of the Week for Second Time
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After setting a new Santa Fe College record with 44 points in the Saints' 68-65 win at St. Petersburg, Malea Brown of Santa Fe College women's basketball has now earned National Player of the Week honors from the NJCAA.

The complete list of NJCAA Players of the Week can be found at the conclusion of this release, with Brown now becoming just the second player to receive the honor on two occasions in 2022-2023.
The national award is the second of Brown's career and second this season, after being selected on Nov. 30, 2022.
Brown, the sophomore guard from Putnam Hall, Fla., surpassed the previous school-record of 42 points from Martha Huntenberg from November of 1980.
Brown's previous career-high was 36 points in the second-to-last game in the 2021-2022 season, also against St. Petersburg.
Brown went 18-of-28 from the field against the Titans, tying the school record for field goals made in a game. She finished a scorching 8-of-12 from deep, one off the school record of nine three-pointers. Her whopping 44 points came without shooting a single free-throw...
On the week, the guard averaged 33 points, six rebounds, and 4.5 steals while shooting 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field and 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from three-point territory. She had 22 points against No. 2 Eastern Florida on Feb. 15...
This season, Brown ranks No. 3 in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 in points-per game at 20.3 and No. 1 in steals per game (3.4).
