Malea Brown of Women's Basketball Headed to Longwood
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Malea Brown of Santa Fe College women's basketball will be continuing her academic and athletic pursuits at Longwood University.
Malea is from Putnam Hall, Florida and prior to SF, she attended Q.I. Roberts High School. At Santa Fe, she studied sports management and business administration.
2022-2023 was her second season with the Saints, and she garnered All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8 honors. During her standout sophomore season in which she was twice named NJCAA Player of the Week, Malea averaged 20.2 points, five rebounds, and led the FCSAA with 3.5 steals per game on the defensive end.
Brown set a new Santa Fe record with 44 points on Feb. 19 in a 68-65 win at St. Petersburg, and she undoubtedly is one of the best to ever wear the Saints' jersey. The two-time Central Conference First Team honoree ranks No. 3 in program-history in total scoring with 894 points.
Longwood University Women's Basketball is coached by Erika Lang-Montgomery, who started in the spring of 2022 after a time as an assistant with the University of Florida. The program competes in the NCAA Division I and the Big South Conference.
