The Santa Fe Saints Women's Basketball team opens their season on the road on October 31st as they make the trip to Jacksonville to play Louisburg College at 12:00pm at the FSCJ Battle on Beach Boulevard. They return the following day to play Catawba Valley Community College at 4:00pm to round out their opening weekend games.
First year Head Coach David Lowery has worked to build and prepare his team ever since he was brought onto Santa Fe College in July. James Henderson returns to the Saints Women's Basketball Staff this season, marking his eighth straight year with the Saints and has been instrumental to easing the transition to Coach Lowery.
"As I enter my first season, I am super excited for the team to get going as we have really worked hard in the preseason on and off the court. I have a group of sophomores who have really bought from the first day I stepped on campus this summer to be committed to working on the court and being great leaders" Lowery adds. "Our freshmen have shown they are excited and eager to get on the court. We have a mix of local, regional, and international players with our exciting Freshmen group. They will bring some talent to the guard spot in all positions."
Three new assistants will also join the Saints sideline this season; Wes Phillips, Jaz Rollins, and Hannatu Tunga-Lergo complete the staff to prepare and guide the Saints through the 2025-26 season. Phillips and Rollins come from Varsity coaching positions at The Rock School and Gainesville High School respectively, and Tunga-Lergo adds over 16 years of volunteer experience of basketball operations and analytics.
The FSCJ Battle on Beach Boulevard will be the first two of 27 total games for the Saints for 2025-26. Santa Fe will have their usual Citrus Conference slate of games and will host nationally ranked Florida SouthWestern in February.
The Saints will look for veteran leadership from their four sophomore players: Aniyah Anderson, Malanie Francis, and Taylor Hackett all return for their second season with Santa Fe while Isabella Spence is the sole transfer of the group.
Catch the Saints on the floor at home for the first time on Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 as they take on South Florida Technical College!
