Volleyball Downed by No. 2 Miami Dade in Suncoast Conference Opener
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe Volleyball played its first Suncoast Conference match of the 2021 season, falling by a 3-0 score to NJCAA powerhouse, No. 2 Miami Dade, 25-10, 25-18, 25-12.
Set 1 – MDC 25, SF 10
The Saints were able to earn two of the first three points of the match, but an 8-1 run from the Sharks set the tone for the rest of the set.
Set 2 – MDC 25, SF 18
Santa Fe trailed 13-8, but made their way back even at 14-14, following a big block on the right side from Emily Register and Emily Loose.
The two sides countered one another until the score worked its way to 18-18. The Sharks, however, turned it up to a higher gear and won the final seven points to seize the 2-0 lead.
Set 3 – MDC 25, SF 12
The first four points of what proved to be the final set went to Miami Dade, as the No. 2 Sharks continued to enforce their will.
Miami Dade got the final kill with a quick attack from the middle, handing the Saints their second loss of the season and first in Suncoast Conference play.

Kassidy Bolling led the Saints with six kills.
Maya Mullally led SF with 11 digs, while Amelia MacCallum added 10.
