Volleyball Swept by No. 17 Hillsborough
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball played host to the No. 17 Hillsborough Hawks on Thursday evening, and dropped to 1-2 in Suncoast Conference play with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-13 defeat.
Set 1 – HCC 25, SF 13
The match started off evenly with each team going back-and-forth until the middle of the set. Kassidy Bolling in particular was able to find the floor with a few swings for the Saints.
Th Hawks led 16-13, however, when they proceeded to rattle off the final nine points of the opening frame.
Set 2 – HCC 25, SF 19
Trailing 13-9, Katelyn Kelso brought the Saints to within two, 13-11, on serve.
The Hawks then started a 7-2 run to gain some separation, and eventually went ahead 2-0
Set 3 – HCC 25, SF 13
The Hawks put a stamp on the match by jumping out to a 15-3 lead in the final set and never looked back.
Santa Fe had some troubles handling the Hillsborough serving throughout the match, noted Head Coach Nick Cheronis, particularly from the jump server Ana Oro.
Key Saints' Statistics
Maya Mullally set a new career-high with 21 digs.
Emily Loose had 18 assists, but the Saints were held to their lowest hitting percentage in a match so far this season (.056). The leader in kills was Nicole DePaula (4).
