Volleyball Turned Back at Eastern Florida, 3-0
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball suffered a fifth-consecutive loss on Tuesday evening, dropping a three-set match at Eastern Florida State College, 25-18, 26-24, 25-11.
Set 1 – EF 25, SF 18
The Saints fell into a 7-1 deficit early.
The gap grew to double-digits later in the set, and although SF's deficit proved to be too much to overcome, the Saints started to find more success headed into Set 2.
Set 2 – EF 26, SF 24
With the set tied at 10-10, the Saints scored three straight points. That advantage held until the score worked its way to 18-15, when a block from Nicole DePaula and Katelyn Crofts forced a timeout from the Titans.
Out of the timeout, Eastern Florida scored three unanswered to draw even.
With the score still tied at 21-21, the Saints claimed three set points with a kill from Abbey James and two from DePaula.
The Titans were able to stave off all three, however, and extended their run to five straight to conclude the set with a final kill.
Set 3 – EF 25, SF 11
The third and final set was tied at 8-8 when the Titans pulled away.
Eastern Florida had a run of 13 consecutive points in route to their second Suncoast Conference victory.
Key Saints' Statistics
James finished the match with a team-high eight kills, while DePaula collected seven.
The Cheronis Perspective
Head Coach Nick Cheronis: "All credit to Eastern Florida, they outplayed us at critical moments. We will have to flush this one quickly as we have a good Polk State team on Thursday."
