No. 1 Florida SouthWestern Sweeps SF Volleyball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball played host to the top-ranked team in the NJCAA Division I, Florida SouthWestern, and the Bucs came away with a sweep of the Saints inside the SF Gymnasium.
Set 1 – FSW 25, SF 14
Abbey James opened the match with a kill from the right side, and the Saints came out firing on all cylinders to race out to a 6-1 lead.
The Bucs drew even at 10-10, and at 11-11, FSW began a run of nine unanswered points to seize control of the set. Two timeouts from the Saints weren't able to slow the momentum, and the guests went ahead 1-0.
Set 2 – FSW 25, SF 17
SF led 8-7 in the second set and were hanging close with the Suncoast Conference leader, but another big run from the Bucs turned the tide. An 11-2 surge put FSW ahead 18-10, forcing a Saints timeout.
The deficit grew as large as double-digits, and although Nicole DePaula tossed up two aces late, the Bucs went ahead 2-0 with another kill for the final tally of the frame.
Set 3 – FSW 25, SF 15
Although the Saints fell into an early 7-2-hole, SF did well later in the set to get to within two points, 10-8.
10 of the next 14 points went to the Bucs, however, and No. 1 FSW went on to comfortably secure their ninth consecutive victory.
