After a comeback win at Eastern Florida State College on Saturday, October 18th, the Saints returned home on Wednesday, October 22nd to face the Hillsborough Community College Hawks. The Saints fell in three sets 14-25, 17-25, 23-25.
A block by Selena Placide gave the Saints a 4-3 lead in the first set. Emmy Rowland extended the lead to 6-3 with an ace. The Hawks came back to take a 14-9 lead and cruised to a 25-14 set one win.
The Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the second set, but Kailyn Howard answered with a kill and an ace to make the score 3-2. After the Hawks took a 14-6 lead, an ace by Madison Howard and a kill by Addison Mittauer put the score at 14-9. The Hawks stayed in control as they took the second set 25-17.
A kill by Linnea Preston put the Saints on the board first in the third set. After falling behind, a kill by Placide tied the set 8-8. The Hawks had a service error and an attacking error with match point at 24-20. K. Howard added a kill to make the score 24-23, but the Hawks ended the match 25-23 with a kill.
The Saints will host Polk State College next Wednesday, October 29th at 6:00 pm in their final game of the season.
