This week's Alumni Spotlight is Bree Maxwell, who played Women's Basketball from 2013-2015!
Bree Maxwell played for Santa Fe Women's Basketball for two years and achieved 22 wins across those seasons for the Saints. Additionally, the Saints earned a State Tournament Bid in her first year.
Her impact was noticed well past the basketball court, as she was inducted into the Santa Fe Student Hall of Fame in 2015. She was a two-year captain for the Saints and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA before her acceptance to the College of Journalism at the University of Florida. Following completing her A.A. at Santa Fe, Maxwell then headed to the University of Florida where she pursued her degree in Telecommunications. Although she did not end up playing for the Gators Women's Basketball program, she stayed involved in the sport and worked as a student manager for the Gators for two years as she worked towards her degree.
Upon graduation from UF, Maxwell worked as a sports radio producer for various media channels for two years then as a sports videographer for WCJB TV20 before becoming the first ever social media manager for USSSA. The United States Specialty Sports Association, or USSSA is a sports governing body that specializes in baseball, slow-pitch softball, fast pitch softball, and soccer.
Maxwell then took an opportunity with the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder, working as a social media manager for two and a half years overseeing 30 social media accounts across all platforms including affiliate accounts. She then took a position as a Social and Digital Content Creator for Meta Platforms for the NBA, analyzing and reporting key metrics on their platforms for increased awareness and engagement.
Currently, she is back with USSSA as a digital content manager, prioritizing brand awareness and consistency within brand identity. She also helps maintain brand image and expanding brand awareness for USSSA.
