Saints dominate at home
Santa Fe bests Wayne County Community College District in a midweek afternoon matchup in Gainesville.
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe dominates Wayne County Community College District 94-35 in a Thursday night match-up in the Santa Fe College Gymnasium.
The win moves Santa Fe to (2-3) overall and 2nd win in a row after they dropped their first three contests of the season.
Santa Fe came out of the lockerroom ready; jumping out to an early 13-5 lead over the Wildcats, forcing their first timeout of the night just under three minutes into the game. A 30-point first quarter was just the start the Saints were looking for as they held a 23 point advantage after the first 10 minutes. The second quarter was all about offense, and the Saints took a 54-22 advantage into the half.
The second half was all Santa Fe, as the Saints defense was really the star of the show, limiting the Wildcats to 10 points in the third and 3 points in the fourth quarter. Santa Fe scored 12 points in the third quarter but erupted for a 28 point fourth quarter to score 94 points as a team.
Five Saints ended the afternoon in double figures, with Zion McRae and Aniyah Anderson with 14 points a piece and Lorianys Castanon-Cruz and Malanie Francis adding 12 each as well. DeMya Adams recorded 11 points in the contest.
The Saints return home for a rematch vs Tallahassee State College, a team the Saints fell to 62-59 in Tallahassee just under two weeks ago. Monday's contest is the front-end of a Saints doubleheader, and will tip-off at 5:30pm in the Santa Fe Gymnasium.
