Saints stun Bucs
Santa Fe topples Florida SouthWestern and evens series
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe (4-11) pick up first win of the new year vs Florida SouthWestern (13-8) by a score of 57-54.
The Saints were looking for some revenge after they fell to the Bucs earlier this season in December 91-54. The second meetup was quite a different story; heres how the afternoon went:
A slow moving first quarter led the the Saints trailing 9-8 after the first ten minutes. a 8-13 second quarter score gave the Bucs a 27-21 advantage. The Saints however responded after the halftime break and brought the game back to a 36-36 deadlock after three quarters. The fourth quarter was no different than the previous three; with the Saints and Bucs trading buckets all they way until the final minute. An and-1 by Zion McRae put the game on ice with 4.3 second left and the Bucs were not able to hit their buzzer-beater attempt.
Zion mcRae led the Saints with 22 points, while Lorianys Castanon Cruz and Aniyah Anderson were in double digits with 13 and 11 respectively.
The Saints capture their first conference win of the year and will travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on FSCJ on Tuesday, January 27th at 5:00pm
