Santa Fe (6-13) falls to (3-9) in Citrus Conference play as the fall for the second straight time to Daytona State 99-55.
A slow start cost the Saints as they trailed 35-9 after one quarter of play. They bounced back in the second quarter by cutting the lead to 22 points at the half, but another explosive offensive quarter by Daytona State cost the Saints any chance at a comeback. 29 points in the third and 22 points in the fourth quarter did the Saints in for the loss.
The Saints shot just 27.9% as the Falcons shot 50.7%. The disparity largely comes from points in the paint as the Falcons led that stat category 44-16. Lorianys Castanon Cruz led the Saints with 16 points; Zion McRae closely followed with 14.
Santa Fe returns to the court on Wednesday night as they travel to take on Eastern Florida State College at 5:30pm.
