Volleyball Drops Nonconference Matchup at Lake-Sumter
LEESBURG, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball dropped a third-consecutive match on Tuesday evening, suffering a 3-0 nonconference defeat at Lake-Sumter State College, 25-13, 28-26, 25-19.
The Saints fell to 1-2 in matches outside of the Suncoast Conference, with one more nonconference matchup still remaining on the schedule.
Set 1 – LSSC 25, SF 13
The Lake Hawks took control early on their home floor and led 10-4, going on to seize the opening frame comfortably.
Set 2 – LSSC 28, SF 26
Despite dropping four of the second set's first five points, the Saints were able to establish a bit of a rhythm to draw even for the first time at 9-9 after a kill.
Trailing 18-15 later in the set, the Saints rattled off five straight points to lead 20-18. The run was highlighted by two big blocks and an Amelia MacCallum ace.
Lake-Sumter, however, earned the first set point leading 24-23. Although the Saints were able to fight off three set points to extend play, the Lake Hawks claimed the final point with a block.
Set 3 – LSSC 25, SF 19
The hosts gained an early advantage and extended their lead in the final set to as large as eight points, eventually handing the Saints the road loss while improving to 4-1 overall. SF fell to 2-5 overall.

SF finished the match with nine blocks at the net.
Katelyn Crofts led the way with the attack, collecting six kills on a .667 hitting percentage.
